Frances was born in a small town outside Houston, Texas, and moved to Southern California at the age of four. She attended school in Lakewood, married, and moved to Orange County when her children were small. Her three children still live nearby and all have children of their own, much to her delight! Taking photographs of them in dress-up clothes in serene settings is one of her favorite things to do. Although she was always talented and artistically creative, she did not start her art training until her late twenties. Studying with local artists, her ability to recreate what she saw with realism, yet with a tender quality, was readily apparent. First came landscapes, then small animals, all in charming detail. Next, she concentrated on small children, with beautifully realistic faces, but soft, impressionistic backgrounds. Then came flower scenes both realistic and impressionistic. Now Frances combines her subject matter and techniques, creating images with a feeling of beauty and serenity that is transferred from artist to viewer. The talents of Frances Jerome have not been limited to oil paintings on canvas. She has sculpted and painted original porcelein dolls, including their original dresses; sculpted and fired bronze works; created paintings in watercolor and acrylic; and created original and artistic stained glass pieces that were uniquely designed for a variety of customers. Of most note, however, was her extensive entry into the field of hand-painted eggs. Over a period of ten years, Frances became a recognized artist in that field, creating a feeling of warmth and tenderness that is unmatched in hand-painted eggs. They have been collected by art lovers and serious collectors around the world. To make her favorite images more available to art lovers, Frances has developed them into limited edition reproductions on canvas, each carefully enhanced with oil paint to make them appear much like the original at a portion of the cost. They are now available in a number of fine art galleries and gift/collectibles shops. Frances and her husband now also publish "little ones", a popular series of miniature (4x5 and 5x7) reproductions of her original oil paintings on canvas, each signed by the artist. Some of her imges are also available in needlepoint and in beautiful hand-woven tapestries. Frances paints what she enjoys--paints from the heart. She shares her thoughts on canvas--sharing images that are warm and easy to love. Questions or comments? E-Mail us here |
